Funko Announces Show-Only Event Edition Exclusives

Funko is launching a new line of collectibles that fans will only be able to purchase by attending participating conventions and authorized store events.

The company introduced Event Edition in an announcement from Funko Europe, describing it as a collection of all-new, show-only exclusives planned for events across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Canada.

Unlike some convention exclusives that later become available through online stores, Funko says Event Edtiion collectibles will be sold exclusively in person and will never be offered online.

The distribution model means collectors will need to attend a participating Comic Con or authorized retail event to obtain the figures directly. Funko has not yet announced which conventions, stores or countries will receive the first releases.

The company is scheduled to reveal the first Event Edition exclusives on July 30

The program could create a new category of regional Funko exclusives, with availability determined by which events and authorized stores participate in each market.

Funko has not disclosed how many Event Edition collectibles will be produced, whether purchase limits will apply or how quantities will be divided among participating locations.
