New Harry Potter Treats Include Collectible Molds, Cupcake Liners and Cake Toppers

Harry Potter Treats

General Mills is bringing Harry Potter back to grocery store shelves with a new collection of Pillsbury and Betty Crocker products that includes several items designed to appeal to collectors as much as bakers.

The new lineup features Harry Potter-themed cookies, baking kits, cakes and fruit snacks, with collectible elements based on recognizable objects, locations and Hogwarts houses from the franchise. The products will begin arriving at retailers nationwide in July.

One of the most collectible items in the assortment is the new Betty Crocker Harry Potter Chocolate Frog Truffle Kit. The kit includes collectible frog molds that fans can use to create and decorate their own Chocolate Frog-inspired treats.

The Chocolate Frog has long been one of the most recognizable treats associated with the Harry Potter stories. General Mills said the new kit gives fans a way to recreate the familiar confection at home, although the chocolate frogs produced with the kit will not actually hop away.

Betty Crocker is also releasing Harry Potter Hogwarts House Pumpkin Cakes. The baking kit includes themed cupcake liners inspired by the four Hogwarts houses, giving fans a chance to choose or discover their preferred house while decorating the cakes.

Another new release, Betty Crocker Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Chocolate Cakes, includes custom collectible toppers inspired by the mysterious location from the Harry Potter universe. The toppers can be used to decorate the finished cakes and may also appeal to fans who save Harry Potter food packaging and promotional items.

Pillsbury is joining the promotion with Harry Potter Golden Snitch Shape Cookies. The ready-to-bake sugar cookies feature Pillsbury’s first Golden Snitch design, drawing inspiration from one of the most recognizable symbols connected to Quidditch.

The collection also includes the return of Betty Crocker Harry Potter Fruit Snacks. The fruit-flavored snacks come in six varieties: Daring Fruit Punch, Witty Blue Raspberry, Delightful Dragon Fruit, Cunning Green Apple, Loyal Lemonade and Golden Strawberry Punch.

General Mills said the products were created to give fans new ways to bring familiar details from the Harry Potter stories into their homes, whether they are preparing for a movie marathon, celebrating their Hogwarts house or adding a themed item to a lunchbox.

“Harry Potter has captivated generations of fans through its unforgettable characters and sense of wonder,” said Luke Niethammer, business unit director for baking at General Mills. Niethammer said the company was excited to let fans experience elements such as the Hogwarts houses, Golden Snitch and Chocolate Frogs through the new products.

The Pillsbury and Betty Crocker Harry Potter products will be available at retailers across the United States beginning in July.
