The Gundam Base Opening Two New U.S. Stores

The Gundam Base is expanding in North America with two new U.S. locations scheduled to open in 2026.

Bandai Namco Amusement America Inc. and Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America Inc. announced that The Gundam Base will open new stores in Minneapolis and Seattle following the launch of The Gundam Base Chicago, the first permanent Gundam Base location in North America.

The Gundam Base Minneapolis is scheduled to open in fall 2026 at Mall of America. The Gundam Base Seattle is also scheduled to open in fall 2026 at Westfield Southcenter.

The new stores will give more fans access to Gundam plastic model kits, known as Gunpla, along with exclusive merchandise, premium displays and special products connected to more than 45 years of Gundam history.

The expansion follows the 2025 opening of The Gundam Base Chicago at Fashion Outlets of Chicago. According to the companies, the Chicago location has welcomed thousands of visitors from across North America since opening and helped lead to the additional U.S. stores.

The Gundam Base is described as an official Gunpla facility for Gundam fans around the world. The stores are designed as immersive retail destinations for the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise and Gundam model-kit hobby.

Visitors to The Gundam Base locations can expect a wide assortment of Gunpla model kits for builders of different skill levels. The stores will also offer exclusive products and limited-edition merchandise, life-sized displays, Gundam-themed environments, community events, special activations and staff support for builders.

Bandai Namco said additional details about grand opening celebrations, exclusive merchandise and special events for the Minneapolis and Seattle stores will be announced closer to their opening dates.

The Gundam series began with Mobile Suit Gundam, which aired in Japan in 1979. The franchise marked its 45th anniversary in 2024.
