Shohei Ohtani Superfractor Sells for $3.365 Million Through Fanatics Collect

Shohei Ohtani has another record in the collectibles market.
Fanatics Collect announced on Instagram that it brokered a $3,365,000 private sale for a 2018 Shohei Ohtani Bowman Chrome Superfractor 1/1. According to the post, the sale sets the record for the most expensive Shohei Ohtani card ever. The card was graded as a BGS 9.5.
The post also says the sale surpassed the previous Ohtani card record of $3,000,000.
The card is a one-of-one Superfractor from 2018 Bowman Chrome, making it the only copy of that version. Fanatics Collect’s announcement did not include additional details about the buyer.
For collectors, the record price adds another major result to Ohtani’s place in the modern sports card market. A one-of-one Bowman Chrome Superfractor from his 2018 card year already carries major appeal, and the $3.365 million private sale now gives the card a new record attached to it.
The sale also shows how strong demand remains for the rarest Ohtani cards. The 2018 Bowman Chrome Superfractor 1/1 becomes one of the defining modern baseball card sales of this year.
