Collectors Names Jesse Steinberg General Manager of SGC

SGC

Collectors has named Jesse Steinberg as the new General Manager of SGC, putting him in charge of day-to-day operations and strategic direction for the trading card authentication and grading company.

The announcement was made July 9, 2026. SGC, which has been grading trading cards since 1998, is part of the Collectors portfolio, which also includes PSA, Beckett, PCGS and Card Ladder. Collectors said Steinberg will focus on grading capacity, technology use and customer experience while maintaining the personal service that has long been associated with SGC.

Steinberg first joined SGC in 2019, working directly on the processing floor before moving into leadership roles. He later led the Research and ID department and became Director of Operations in 2021. In 2025, he moved away from day-to-day SGC operations to work on major enterprise projects across the broader Collectors portfolio, most recently serving as Director of Operations for PSA Florida.

In the announcement, Steinberg said SGC has been a cornerstone of the collecting community, known for its presentation and dedication to collectors. He said the company’s personal touch is a major reason collectors trust SGC with important items, and that the goal is to build on SGC’s heritage while using the infrastructure of Collectors to help the brand grow.

Collectors said SGC has built its reputation around sports card heritage and concierge customer service. The company said Steinberg’s focus will be on long-term growth while continuing to prioritize trust, speed and accuracy for collectors.

Steinberg also acknowledged collector feedback around turnaround times and the desire for more detailed operational updates. He said SGC is taking ownership of those challenges and is taking immediate steps to improve transparency and operational efficiency.

Collectors said SGC will use targeted infrastructure and technology investments from its parent company to scale operations without losing its customer-support identity. The company described the approach as combining SGC’s grading heritage with the larger operational backing of Collectors.

For card collectors, the appointment is notable because it comes at a time when grading speed, service communication and brand trust remain major parts of the hobby. Collectors is positioning Steinberg’s move as a new chapter for SGC, with a focus on improving operations while keeping the brand’s collector-first reputation intact.
